They learn your music taste and try as much as possible to recommend similar music based on the artists and songs you play. But recommendations are not perfect. And as such, you may want to remove a particular artist or song from appearing in your customized playlists.

How to Remove an Artist from Your Deezer Recommendations

If you’re a Deezer beginner looking for tips, you’re going to want to learn how to get rid of artists you don’t like. If you remove an artist, Deezer will not include any of their songs in your custom playlists. Here’s how to remove an artist from your recommendations on mobile and desktop:

Go to the artist’s page. You can do this by searching their name using the Search tab. Alternatively, if their track is playing, tap the music player at the bottom (on mobile), select the three-dot menu, and tap their name. On desktop, you can go to an artist’s page by clicking on their name at the bottom player. On the artist’s page, select the three-dot menu. On mobile, the menu is located in the top right; on desktop, you’ll find this menu slightly below the artist’s name. Finally, select Don’t recommend this artist. Deezer will show a pop-up message once the changes have taken effect.

A simple way of doing this is by using the angry emoji, which, for paid subscribers, is only available on Flow and select Deezer mixes. However, you will see the angry emoji across the board if you’re a free subscriber.

To exclude an artist, select the angry emoji and select Don’t recommend this artist from the pop-up menu.

How to Remove a Song from Your Deezer Recommendations

If you don’t like a specific song from a particular artist that has been regularly showing up in your recommendation, you can easily block it. Here’s how:

Search for the song you wish to block. Select the three-dot menu next to the song on the search results page to open a pop-up menu. Finally, select Don’t recommend this track.

Deezer will save your changes automatically. Alternatively, if you’re on mobile and the song you want to block is playing, open the media player at the bottom of your screen. If there’s an angry emoji available, select it and choose Don’t recommend this track from the pop-up menu. The player will skip to the next song automatically.

If the angry emoji button is unavailable, go to the playlist page and select the three-dot menu next to the song you wish to block. Then, select Don’t recommend this track.

On the desktop, simply click on the angry emoji icon, if available, and choose Don’t recommend this track. If that’s not available, click on the song’s title to go to the album’s page. Then, look for the song you wish to block and click the three-dot menu adjacent to it. Finally, click Don’t recommend this track. Changes apply across devices, even if you listen to Deezer on your HomePod.

How to Manage Your Blocked Songs and Artists on Deezer (Browser)

You can view and manage your blocked songs and artists on Deezer. This gives you a chance to free some artists or songs from your personal blacklist. As of writing, this option is only available on browser.

You can view and manage your Deezer exclusions by following these steps:

First, go to Deezer.com and log in to your account if you haven’t. Next, click on your profile picture in the top right. Deezer will open a pop-up menu. Select Manage my exclusions.

On the next page, you’ll see two tabs, one for Excluded tracks and another for Excluded artists.

Go to the right tab and click on the block icon next to or on top of the artist or song you want to unblock. And that’s it. Deezer will now recommend the artist or song again.

Fine Tune Your Deezer Recommendations

Getting correct recommendations on Deezer, like on other music streaming platforms, requires you to have patience. If you’re getting started, it can be hard to get recommendations that suit your specific music taste. But with time and regular listening, the algorithm will grasp what you prefer and start showing you more relevant suggestions.

You can remove songs or artists from your recommendation to speed up the process. Hopefully, you can now do that by following the steps highlighted in this article.
