How to Put Your Bluetooth Speaker Into Pairing Mode

You don’t need to reset a Bluetooth speaker fully in some cases, but instead, you want to force it into a pairing mode. Before you go to full-on factory reset mode, we recommend trying these steps first.

Press the Bluetooth logo button (pictured above) to enter pairing mode. Navigate to your device’s Bluetooth menu. On iOS, Mac, and Windows, you can find this in the system settings. On Android, you can long-press the Bluetooth button in your notification shade. Find and select the Bluetooth speaker’s name or model number on the list. If you’re still having problems, a factory reset might be in order.

How to Factory Reset a Bluetooth Speaker

Almost all Bluetooth speakers feature a means to fully factory reset them, erasing all relationships with Bluetooth devices and letting you “start from scratch” just as if you just pulled the speaker out of the box. It’s best to first “forget” or “unpair” the speaker from all devices. You can do this by navigating to the Bluetooth menu as specified above, finding your speaker’s name or model number, and choosing the unpair option.

Now you’re ready to factory reset the speaker. Sometimes the factory reset is a small, pinhole button clearly labeled “reset” where you use a pencil or sharp object to force reset it. If that pinhole doesn’t exist, there is usually a combination of buttons you have to hold simultaneously to achieve. Popular brands’ instructions are listed below but consult the manual that came with your device when in doubt.
